WHEN FIRST I SAW YOU STANDING THERE

WHEN FIRST I SAW YOU STANDING THERE (to Gerry)

When first I saw you standing there

Your trim blue suit, our short cut hair

I little thought that I would share

The rest of my life in love with you.

But better love of richer hue

So very clear so very true

Cannot be found, nor any clue is present of a love that can compare

I recall well the way it started

Love moved in quite bold-hearted

Overwhelmed me in a rush

Voicing airs like some sweet thrush

Emanating from above

Given this a beginning so brash

Each moment then our love should crash

Refreshing friendship makes love grow

Respect and warmth I love you so

You are my own dear sweet love
