MORALIST

MORALIST

Please listen to me, while I make my plea

I was selfish but now I can see.

Don’t make my mistake, a lush and a rake

I was in life for all I could take.

I thought all was fake, my love I would forsake

As I grab for much more of the cake

Life was a big game, I grabbed cash and fame

And lovers were just more of the same.

But there’s a better way. Oh! There is a better way.

The birds will sing and the bells will ring

As you go the better way.

As a son of a bitch I grew really rich

Yet my life developed its own glitch.

The game I began, was no more fun.

Of real lovers and friends, I had none.

When I realized I lost what I most prized

My direction in life was revised

I love much more now and I am loved and how!

As my friends and my family will vow

But there’s a better way. Oh! There is a better way.

The birds will sing and the bells will ring

As you go the better way.
