YOUTH GOES TO THE BRONX

YOUTH GOES TO THE BRONX

c. 1963

The train went first

And a windy blast

Threw dust up in my eyes

I’m going to the Bronx

With  a bunch of punks

It really mystifies

Nick leads the way

With feelings gay

The train just rumbles on

And Bob’s there too

Though he shall rue

This damned marathon

With her pretty teeth

Sue does bequeath

That we must forge ahead

And yet I know

That as we go

My body jerks like lead

Oh! How they shall pay

This very day

Or at least this very night

For I do drag

My body sags

To so unseemly a site!
