A PROPOSAL

A PROPOSAL    1965

Gerry, Gerry do not be cross

If this poem is not too boss

For it’s the best that I can do

To show dear heart, my love for you.

Gerry you don’t know

Just how much I love you so

For when I say, “I really do”

I show dear heart my love for you.

Gerry I think it grand

Just to feel your hand

To touch your lips, to kiss and screw

To show dear heart my love for you.

Gerry, Gerry I know this too

That all of my life is me and you

And not a game.  But straight and true

I show dear heart my love for you.

Oh! Gerry, Gerry can’t you see

That I want you to marry me!
